Tracy Reese Spring 2015 RTW: Elegant Style, Beautiful Color

Tracy Reese has outdone herself with her 2015 Spring ready to wear fashion styles.

Drawing inspiration from Martha Graham’s work and life, Reese has created a powerful line of fashions that are easy and fun to wear. Reese attributes her unique designs to the fact that she grew up among dancers. In fact, both her mother and her aunt were dancers, and helped to inspire Reese by introducing her to the process and philosophy espoused by Martha Graham. She maintains that the best way to create beautiful fashion styles is to learn as much as possible about the mechanics of design, and then to introduce your own creative elements

The First Act

The show promised to be special right from the start, with an original opening number performed by a troupe of ballet dancers who were spread out among the audience. Once the opening number was completed, the fashion styles of Tracy Reese took center stage in three separate acts. The first act, Discipline, featured styles that were directly influenced by the great Martha Graham. Models in layered affairs of sheerest organza and flowing gabardine trench coats with leotards underneath evoked the feeling of prima ballerinas just coming from practice. Soft fabrics and pure lines offered a distinct departure from Reese’s always-recognizable party frocks.

The Second Act

Entitled Craft, the show’s second act wandered back into familiar territory for Reese, with lots of embellishments and bold, bright patterns. Models wore great fashion styles like sequined shifts, coats with floral themes and embroidered pieces. The styles offered a glimpse of Reese’s signature celebration of texture and color.

The Last Act

Reese’s Spring 2015 Fashion Show ended on a high note. A flamingo-pink strapless evening gown (sporting functional pockets) shared the spotlight with easy-to-wear sandals to convey a sense of femininity and confidence. Other gorgeous fashion styles had their moment in the spotlight, too. However, the flamingo-pink cloque evening gown was indisputably the star of the third act.

In the Spotlight

The designs in Reese’s 2015 Spring Fashion Show were presented to such luminaries as Tracee Ellis Ross, Whoopi Goldberg and Steve McQueen. As homage to the inspiration of Martha Graham, Reese’s fashion styles were both beautiful and functional. Elegant style and raucous color are the most recognizable signatures for Reese. With so much talent and such brilliant sources of inspiration, Tracy Reese is the designer to watch in the coming seasons.
