Carolina Herrera Spring 2015 - Luxe Colore

Spring is all about flowers and it was very apparent that Carolina Herrera used them as her starting point for her Spring 2015 Ready-to-Wear collection.

While this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Herrera use florals as inspiration for her garments, this season’s collection pushed boundaries in a whole new way. The womenswear collection used new fabrics, embellishments were made with unique materials, and paired the fashion world with the technology world.

Tulips, magnolias, and roses are all classic flowers and are also staples in Carolina Herreras pieces. For the Spring, she modernized her go-to prints by digitally blowing up the images on the clothing and then splicing them with ombre rectangles. The floral embellishments in this collection were also distinctive because they were made from thin pieces of foam that were painted and then pieced together to create a mosaic effect.

When asked about her Spring collection, Herrera said, “It’s an uncomplicated collection.” This statement proves to be true because everything from the silhouettes to the fabrics were fairly simple. Silhouettes were left unlined and they were only manipulated through tucking or folding. Simple fabrics like crepe and linen were used as well and made the collection very wearable. From boxy jackets to a-line short skirts, there are bound to be several pieces in this modern floral collection that attract your attention.
