A Pop of Purple

A Pop of Purple By Megan Panwar

I’m not one to play with color much…or at all to be honest with you. My daily attire usually ranges from blacks to beiges-I’m that neutral type of gal all around. Not just with clothes but with makeup basics as well. I love diving into the art of makeup but when it comes to myself, a bright face with liner, mascara and red lipstick is as far as I will go…Red lipstick IS a neutral, right? 😉 Anyways, a couple of weeks ago I thought to myself, why buy gorgeous eye-shadow palettes when I never play around with the colors?

Since purples make brown eyes pop, I wanted to create a purple smokey eye with no blacks period. I came up with this look below and instantly fell in love. This look is definitely for any brown-eyed beauty–subtle yet striking.

I went in with various palettes but to be honest, you need ONLY two shadows to create this look: one dark purple and one light purple. I applied the light purple all over my lid including a little above my crease to create the transition shade. Keep in mind you don’t need anything name brand when creating this look. I used Lorac and Too Faced palettes but it most definitely isn’t necessary. Go in with a darker purple right in the outer corner to create definition and the smokiness. You may apply this to the bottom lash line along with liner and mascara. I enjoy adding lashes for a more dramatic effect but totally not necessary. The attempt to use purple liner above the black liner was an epic fail but it sounded like a good idea at the time.

I hope you all try this out, it’s a lot more simple than it looks, I promise!
