Effortless Chic: The Kaftan

The kaftan has been fashionable for centuries.  Kaftans have been worn in many cultures from Persia, West Africa, Morocco to Russia.  Historically they were usually worn by dignitaries or nobles.  However, when they made their way to America, kaftans were worn by hippies in the 1970’s or as dashshikis in the African American communities.   Today, kaftans offer effortless chic style and designers Issa London, Camilla Frank and Naeem Khan have designed a few beauties for the spring.  They are colorful, give a sexy silhouette, and can be dressed up or worn more casual.  Kaftans are great for a fabulous resort vacation or a comfortable saturday in the city.   Celebrities from Oprah to Kim Kardashian have all been photographed in beautiful kaftans.  Take a peek below at some fabulous designs for this spring!  Enjoy!
